kusatsu:

I’ve been seeing this around a lot on FB and it boils my blood.
Almost unanimously the featured woman is called a various amount of insults, usually “bitch”, and the misogyny exhibited by both men and women in response is staggering.
Let me break it down for you. This is why woman don’t like so-called “Nice Guys™”.
You may be interested in us, but we are not obligated to like you back.
We are not for sale. Spending money on us does not mean we should be your property.
Society teaches women that if a male we desire is not interested in us, that there’s something wrong with us. We’re not thin enough. Not pretty enough. Not funny enough. But when a woman doesn’t want a man, there is also something wrong with her because he is entitled to her affections somehow if he does X/Y or Z.
Being resentful for not getting into our pants does not make you a nice guy, PERIOD. If you have this idea that you SHOULD be getting laid because you’ve been a woman’s friend for X period of time or you’ve done Y nice things for her, then you really need to re-evaluate yourself as a person. Friendship should not come with an ulterior motive or strings attached.
What’s worrying to me is the amount of women who are chiming in with this misogynistic view, not realising the harm being done to our gender by buying into this whole idea that the “nice guy” who barters for our attention or sex should be submitted to. For those who this statement may apply to: please stop. The type of men who pretend to be our friends just to get sex or who believe we should be bought with gifts are objectifying us and do not need reassurance or to be enabled.
